RFD is a reader-written journal and is an open forum for, among other things, new ideas, radical views and controversial issues. The broad scope of RFD includes articles on alternative lifestyles, gay identity, history and contributions, homesteading, politics, gardening, cooking, and mens' arts and health. It contains within its pages regular sections including contact letters, poetry, fiction, prisoner concerns, illustrations, photography, and book reviews.
SUBMISSIONS:
We'll contact you if your submission is selected. We sometimes hold material for future issues. Contributors receive one copy of the issue in which their work appears. Second copy upon request. A self-addressed stamped enveloped will ensure the return of your originals. Please send a couple sentence biography for possible use. We print the names of all contributors, but usually not their addresses (except for contact letters). However, contributors can be reached through RFD. We do not give out the addresses of subscribers, although RFD will forward mail to them.
WRITING: Since this is a reader-written journal, please send us your work! Best format is a Microsoft Word file or Text file (.txt), as an e-mail attachment sent to submissions@rfdmag.org or on a CD of said formats. PLEASE, DO NOT SEND US SUBMISSIONS TYPED OUT IN AN EMAIL PROGRAM. When mailing a CD to the address below, always include a hard copy. We may edit for length (under 2500 words is best), spelling and punctuation.
DRAWINGS: We always need more art. Send us good quality copies of color or black and white line drawings. Color drawings will only be printed in color if they are being used for a cover. The best way for us to receive your work is on a CD or Zip Disk at our postal address. Please send your files in Photoshop (.psd), Acrobat (.pdf, .pdp), Illustrator (.ai), .tif, .gif, .bmp, or high quality (90% plus) .jpg format. Please make sure the file is at least 300 dpi for the given size of the piece. If you email us your file at submissions@rfdmag.org and the file is over 500k, please zip it before sending. We suggest either Winzip (Windows) or Maczip (Mac), both free. Send to submissions@rfdmag.org. If this is too technical, you may send us your pictures in the mail to the address below.
